Turkey Potsticker Burgers

These delicious, Asian-inspired Turkey Potsticker Burgers taste just like your favorite Asian dumpling but in easier-to-devour burger form!

Friends, these are going to be on your burger rotation menu, I promise you! They are one of our favorite recipes to make and they are always a huge hit when we make them for friends or our friends make them at home.

It is no secret how much I love Asian inspired food; I also love burgers so this combination is perfection. The juicy burger made with turkey (or chicken or beef or pork, whatever you choose!) is topped with a crunchy Asian slaw.

What is a Potsticker Burger?

If you love Asian food you’ve likely had the little dumplings that you can order steamed or fried. They are sometimes called Gyoza and they often come with a little dish of sweet and savory sauce to dunk the little pillows of goodness in.

This burger tastes JUST like one of those potstickers! It’s basically the inside potsticker filling! I even like to have them on Hawaiian buns for just a tiny bit of sweetness, little Hawaiian turkey burgers. If you prefer a bunless burger, you can easily leave it out and still enjoy this Asian Burger low-carb or keto style. They are a nice little change up from the traditional hamburgers.

How to Make Turkey Potsticker Burgers

These turkey burgers could not be easier to make. My favorite part is that if you buy a convenient bag of slaw mix, it’s the perfect amount for your burgers and the Asian slaw.

You also really need to include the fresh ginger because I think it’s what sends this over the edge. All you’re going to do is mix the slaw ingredients, then the burger ingredients, then grill or pan fry the burgers while the slaw is cooling. Dinner is on the table within 30 minutes!

Potsticker Burger Ingredients:

  • 1lb fat-free Ground Turkey Breast (you can also use ground chicken or pork for pork burger)
  • 1 med Egg
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 medium Shallot, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced or teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Fresh Ginger, minced, or a teaspoon ginger powder
  • 2 cups Slaw Mix or Cabbage, Shredded
  • 4 Burger Bun
  • For a little spice, add a dash of sriracha.

    Slaw Ingredients:

    • 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce, coconut aminos, or gluten-free tamari
    • 3 Tbsp Rice Vinegar, or apple cider vinegar
    • ½ teaspoon Sesame Oil
    • ¼ tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
    • 1 clove Garlic, minced
    • ½ tsp Fresh Ginger, minced
    • 1 Green Onion (Green top only of the green onions), chopped
    • 4 cups coleslaw mix or green Cabbage, shredded

    Slaw Prep:

    1. Mix soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, crushed red pepper, garlic, ginger and green onion in a medium bowl. Add the slaw and toss. Cover and refrigerate for approximately 15 minutes to marinate. Toss again before topping burgers.

    Burger Prep:

    1. Mix all of the burger ingredients together in a large bowl, and then form 4 burger patties.
    2. If using an outdoor grill: Place the patties on aluminum foil or parchment paper, sprayed with nonstick spray. Spray the turkey patties with non-stick spray, as well.
    3. If using cast iron frying pan or large skillet: coat the pan with olive oil and heat to medium-high heat.
    4. Grill/cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side. (Please note: the burgers may be delicate so be sure NOT to turn them before they have set on the first side. You’ll know they are ready because they won’t stick to the pan.)
    5. When the burgers have reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees f, remove them from the grill. Top with slaw mix and be sure to get some of that yummy sauce from the slaw on there, too!

    Air Fryer Prep:

    • Preheat your air fryer for 5 minutes at 360 degrees f.
    • Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick spray. Spray the tops of the burger patties, as well.
    • Place the turkey burgers into the air fryer and air fry for approximately 15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    • When the burgers have reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees f, remove them from the air fryer. Top with slaw mix and be sure to get some of that yummy sauce from the slaw on there, too!

    Notes

    • Depending on the type of ground turkey you use, these burgers can be a bit delicate.  To make them easier to handle, after placing them on parchment paper, let sit in the fridge for 30 minutes or so.
    • You can also add a bit of bread crumbs if you're in a hurry - about 1/4 cup.
    • These burgers would also be delicious with ground chicken, ground beef, or ground pork!
