Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup Recipe
Oh how we love the convenience of condensed soups, right? I mean they are the base of so very many of our favorite recipes!
- Casseroles
- Soups
- Sauces
The list is endless. I am all about convenience and not recreating the wheel, especially because these condensed soups are so inexpensive and easy to use; just pop open the can and scoop.
The issue I seem to always come back to though, is that there are ingredients in the store-bought versions that I just don’t love. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I’m never going to buy a can again.
But when I realized how easy it was to make it at home, I loved the idea of getting back to basics.
5-Ingredient Recipe
Friends. Here is where I sort of kicked myself for not trying this sooner – this recipe is SO easy to make. I bet you have all of the ingredients right now to make some! There are only FIVE ingredients. FIVE.
- Butter
- Flour
- Chicken Broth
- Milk
- Garlic Seasoning
How Do You Make Cream Soup From Scratch?
Just 5 ingredients and only 5 minutes and you’ve got a delicious cream soup, just ready for using in your favorite recipes!
Within 5 minutes, you’ll melt the butter, add the flour to make roux, then when ready, whisk in the chicken broth, then the milk and seasonings. All. Done.
Can I Freeze Cream of Chicken Soup?
I would not recommend freezing this one. The consistency doesn’t keep once it’s frozen and thawed. If you aren’t going to use it right away, just store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
