Easy Greek Meatballs
A delicious and Easy Greek Meatballs Recipe! Pair with a quick cucumber, tomato, feta salad & add rice and a side of tzatziki for the perfect Greek dinner!
Easy Greek Recipe
One of our favorite cuisines is Greek. Anytime we are visiting a new area, on vacation or passing through, we usually search for Mediterranean and Greek restaurants.
There are so many wonderful dishes that I can’t tell you which is my favorite. Right up at the top would probably be Gyro (pronounced YEE-RO) and pastitsio, the Greek version of lasagna.
Regardless of which I’m having, you can be sure I’ll be eating it with a smile on my face and a happy wiggle in my seat.
What To Serve with Greek Meatballs
When I plan what to serve with my Easy Greek Meatballs, I like to think about what I’d actually order if we were eating in a restaurant. Things like a cucumber, tomato and feta salad, some warm rice, olives, pita and most definitely tzatziki sauce.
Sometimes I’ll even make a Greek Salad and top some fresh, crunchy Romaine or Green Leaf lettuce with all of the above!
When I’m in a pinch, I always opt for easy. On those days, I’ll hit the olive bar for marinated olives, feta and garlic, frozen rice to heat quickly (a few minutes in the microwave!), and some prepackaged Naan or pita.
At home, I chop up a cucumber and some cherry tomatoes to toss with the olives and feta, whip up the Tzatziki, and half the meal is done!
How to Make Greek Meatballs With Tzatziki Sauce
The flavor of these meatballs is out of this world. Ground beef and pork are the main ingredients, and we’re using classic Greek herbs like fresh mint and parsley, as well as fresh garlic.
Today, I’m using my air fryer to make these! But not to worry, I’ve included instructions on how to make Greek beef meatballs in a skillet and bake them in the oven. So you choose what works best for you!
How to Make Tzatziki Sauce
I’m also including a quick recipe for my favorite Tzatziki Sauce!

Ingredients
- Make the Meatballs
- 1/2 med Red Onion, finely shredded or minced
- 1 lb Lean Ground Beef
- 4 oz Italian Sausage
- 2 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup Panko or your favorite Breadcrumbs
- 1 large Egg
- 2 Tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped
- 4-5 Fresh Mint Leaves, chopped
- 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 2 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- Make the Tzatziki Sauce
- 4 oz Sour Cream or Plain Greek Yogurt
- 1/2 med Fresh Lemon
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1/2 small Cucumber, finely chopped
Instructions
Tzatziki Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix the ingredients. Cover and chill.
Meatballs
- In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients together and then cover and chill for about an hour. This will help to give the meatballs a more uniform roundness (if that's your thing!); otherwise, mix and form meatballs about 2" in diameter.
Air Fryer Instructions
- Preheat your Air Fryer at 400° for about 10 minutes.
- Spray the inside of your air fryer with nonstick cooking spray.
- You may have to cook the meatballs in batches if your air fryer is on the smaller side like mine.
- Place the meatballs inside the air fryer and brush them lightly with olive oil, or spray with nonstick spray.
- Cook the meatballs at 400° for 10 minutes making sure the internal temperature is at least 160°
- Cook the next batch, keeping the cooked meatballs warm in the oven (200°) while the next batch is cooking.
Skillet Instructions
- If using a skillet, add 1/4 inch of extra virgin olive oil to the pan and heat to med/high heat.
- Place the meatballs carefully into the hot skillet and cook on each side about 2-3 minutes, turning to evenly brown.
Oven Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°
- On a baking sheet, place the meatballs about 2" apart
- Bake uncovered for about 18-22 minutes
Serve and Enjoy!

Tips:
- Can I freeze Greek Meatballs? Yes, absolutely! Make them as instructed and then pop them into a freezer bag. When you’re ready to make them just heat them up in the oven or on the stovetop.
- How do you keep the round shape when cooking the meatballs? The secret is to mix up the ingredients and then pop them into the fridge for about an hour, then roll them into balls! Because they are cold, they’ll hold their shape better!
- What makes the beef meatballs so tender? The secret ingredient is the shredded onion! Don’t skip this step.
